As we head into December, it’s the perfect time to make sure you’re getting the most out of your credit card perks before the year wraps up. Many Amex benefits reset on January 1, which means you still have a short window to maximize your current 2025 card credits and offers. Don’t leave money on the table - these perks are truly “use it or lose it”!

I recently had some big decisions to make with my family’s Amex Platinum cards. Back in September, Amex increased the annual fee on their platinum cards from $695 to $895, but they’re grandfathering in the $695 rate if your renewal date hits before the end of this year. That means I’m receiving all the newly announced card benefits at the old price - definitely something to factor into your planning.

My family currently has several Amex Platinum cards, and I ultimately decided to cancel one of my Amex Platinum Business cards while keeping a second personal Platinum card for an additional year. But before cancelling, I am making sure to use every last credit available this year (You have 30 days from the date the annual fee posts on your statement to do this.)
